Sri Siddhartha Padanama

Thalagala Sri Siddhartha Foundation was founded as a Voluntary Social Services Organization with its registration (No.CO/11/90) at the Ministry of Social Services in 1991. The Vision of the Foundation is the spiritual and physical development of people in rural ares irrespective of race, religion and nationality based on the theme of “Meaningful World”. The services rendered are in relating to education, health-care, economic development, agriculture, housing, environmental and cultural. Foundation aims to achieve spiritual and physical well-being towards a Meaningful World for the needy people and organizations in rural areas of Sri Lankan that are affected by natural disasters like flood, draught, landslides, etc., ethnic conflicts or continue to live under conditions of intense poverty. One of the prioritized thrust areas of the Foundation is the construction and renovation of buildings in the rural temples with inadequate basic facilities with the support of local and Foreign Donors. Over the last 25 years the foundation has implemented many programs in conformity with the overall objectives of the foundation.

Giribhanda Pooja – September 2016

The Seventh Giribanda Pooja in scheduled to be held on 18th September 2016 at Navinna Public Play Ground, Maharagama. The arrangements are in progress for the Seventh Pooja in Matale District in the Central Province. The Foundation has identified 200 rural Buddhist Temples located mainly in Vilgamuwa, Laggala, Ukuwela, Yatawatta, Naula, Raththota, Pallepola, Dambulla, Galewela and Matale.

Katina Pooja - November 2016

The Foundation continues to carry out Katina Pooja at various identified locations in the rural villages for the year 2016. There are many foreign and local devotees already engaged with the Foundation to carry out Katina Pooja. Parallel to the Katina Pooja event, the Foundation plans to construct buildings, maintenance and repair of existing buildings and offer essential monastic requisites for those temples.

Community Welfare Programs

The Foundation is organizing a community welfare program for people in rural areas in this year with the objective of uplifting the living standards of the rural communities. Under this program , the Foundation plans various activities such as construction of roads and houses, water supply projects, provision of education materials for school children and medical equipment for differently abled persons etc..
